2025-04-14You can create a class to assign work and post announcements to students.If your school has a Google Workspace for Education account, you should use that email to create your classes. However, anyone over 13 years old can create a class using a personal Google Account.Before you begin: Install the Classroom appTo create and manage classes on a mobile device, you need to install the Classroom app. For details, go to Get the Classroom app.Create a classCreate a class in Google Classroom (iPad or iPhone) Tap Classroom . In bottom-right corner, tap Add Create class. Enter the class name. (Optional) To enter a short description, grade level, or class time, tap Section and enter the details. (Optional) To enter the location for the class, tap Room and enter the details. (Optional) To add a subject, tap Subject and enter a name. Tap Create.Classroom automatically creates a class code that you can use to invite students to the class. You can always get the class code at the top of the class stream.Complete other common tasksOpen all | Close allAccept a provisioned class Your Classroom administrator can create classes for you and add students to them. To activate a provisioned class so it’s visible to students and co-teachers, you have to sign in to Classroom and accept the class. Tap Classroom . On the class card, tap Accept. 2025-04-07This article is for teachers.When you've finished teaching a class, you can archive it. When a class is archived, it's archived for all students and teachers in the class. If you don't archive a class, students and teachers in the class will continue to find it on their Classes page.Teachers and co-teachers can archive a class, but only the primary teacher can delete a class. Students can't archive or delete a class.What happens to an archived class? It's placed in a separate area to preserve the class materials, student work and posts. You won't find it with your active classes on the Classes page. You and your students can find an archived class. To use the class again, you have to restore it. You and your students can still access any class materials in Google Drive. That includes any attachments for assignments or other student work. Students can't unenrol from an archived class. This can limit how students can manage the classes they've finished taking. The class calendar remains in your Google Calendar and in your students' calendars. If you no longer need the class, you can remove its calendar from the display, or delete it permanently. For instructions, go to Delete or unsubscribe from a calendar. Note: An archived class stays in Classroom until you delete it. That's why an archived class's calendar still appears in your Google Calendar. Archive or restore a class Archive a class Find an archived class Restore an archived class Delete a class Warning: There's no way to undo deleting a class. If you tap Delete, you no longer have access to any class posts or comments. However, you and your students can still access your class files in the class Drive folder.When you decide you'll never use a class again, you can delete it permanently. You have to archive a class before you can delete it. Only the primary teacher can delete a class. Co-teachers can't delete a class.To delete an archived class: Tap Classroom . On the left, tap Menu scroll down to tap Archived classes. Note: If you haven't archived any classes, this option won't be in the menu.
