GUIDING THESIS The full appropriation of God's promised blessings are ours through faith apart from law-obedience. The studies on this site are guided by the central Pauline text, "the righteous out of faith will live", Habakkuk 2:4; cf., Thesis Overview, Introductory Notes on Romans. The Pauline formula, FAITH = RIGHTEOUSNESS = BLESSINGS = WORKS, is established in Romans and Galatians, and to a lesser extent his other letters, as Paul addresses the issue of nomism. Nomism (pietism), the heresy promoted by the members of the circumcision party, the Judaizers, is the belief that, although a person is justified by faith, law-obedience is essential both to restrain sin and shape holiness (sanctify) for the full appropriation of God's promised blessings. Against this, Paul contends that "the righteous out of faith will live", and this "apart from works of the law", Rom.3:28. For Paul, holiness / righteousness, and thus the full appropriation of the promised blessings of the covenant, is possessed in union with Christ on the basis of faith (Christ's faithfulness and our faith response), and this apart from law-obedience. Works / law-obedience is but the natural fruit of faith, and to this end Paul encourages us to be what we are in Christ. Although a matter of contention, these note presume that Paul functions as the inspired exegete of Jesus, such that to properly understand the teachings of Jesus it is necessary to interpret them in line with Pauline theology, ie. to understand the gospels, particularly the synoptic gospels, it is necessary to read back the above Pauline formula, particularly as it relates to the Law. These notes also presume that the authors of the synoptic gospels, although faithful to the received tradition, in varying degrees edit and arrange that tradition in line with Paul's bias of grace.SITE NOTES • Draft notes awaiting completion. 2025-04-25After going through a lot of reading for OS X fonts I still can't find a solution. I have installed several applications and fonts that made Safari render pages in a weird way. By weird I mean that if a web site contains both Greek and English words the Greek ones are rendered by the Lucida Grande font and the English ones by the Verdana font. If I disable the Verdana font then Greek is displayed by Lucida Grande and English by Genova. There is no way to have one consistent font for a multi language web site anymore. I uninstalled all extra fonts and I reinstalled just the system and library fonts as they should be when you install OS X for the first time. Then I used Font Finagler to rebuild my cache. Nothing no luck. I read the extensive tutorial found here in Apple discussions but still no luck. I only have the default fonts installed, caches rebuilt the whole lot! Please o please help me with this I really don't want to reinstall OS X. PS: All applications work fine, this is my only issue. Another thing that might be of help is that Firefox and Camino can not render Greek pages properly at all. Even if I set the browsers to override the web site's fonts I have no luck. If I set the web site to pick its fonts I get all accented letters substituted by question marks... I am using OS X 10.4.6
