2025-04-02MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - I’m glad to say that Valentine’s Day will have plenty of sunshine for you and your special someone! However, before we get there, Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning will be quite chilly. Expect overnight lows in the mid 30s, with possible frost through the early hours of Wednesday morning. That little bit of frost won’t last long though, as Wednesday will see temperatures in the low to mid 60s with sunshine all day. Wednesday night into Thursday will drop back into the upper 30s with clouds moving in during the early morning hours of Thursday.Side note: Wednesday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day) is also the National Weather Service’s day for its statewide tornado drill. Part of the National Weather Service’s “Severe Weather Awareness Week”, the drill will occur at 9:15 am. Please do not be alarmed if you hear sirens, there is no actual threat. Even so, it would be good to go over your own tornado safety plan.Thursday will see highs in the upper 60s and low 70s with mostly sunny skies, becoming progressively cloudier towards the evening hours. Overnight Thursday and into Friday skies will become mostly cloudy, with a low in the upper 40s. Friday brings our next rain chance, with mostly cloudy skies in the morning leading to showers in the afternoon and evening and a high in the upper 60s.Those showers linger in the overnight hours of Friday and into Saturday with a low in the 40s. Saturday we’ll be waking up to showers with a high in the low 50s, with showers decreasing after the morning hours. The sun returns by the start of next work week with Sunday rising into the mid 50s with clear skies.Copyright 2024 WTOK. All rights reserved.
2025-04-07MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -Friday morning started out rather chilly once again as our temperatures dropped into the lower 20s/upper teens, and our wind chill values dropped into the lower teens/single digits. Thankfully, the sun is shining, and the sun will continue to shine as we go throughout the day so the sun will help to try and keep us warm. Temperatures this afternoon are only rising into the mid 40s, and it will still feel colder than that, so we need all of the warmth we can get. Heading into the overnight hours tonight, overnight lows will fall into the mid to upper 20s, so although our temps will still be sitting below freezing, it won’t be as cold and it won’t feel as cold.Heading into the weekend, we’ll continue to warm up as highs on Saturday sit in the mid 50s. Saturday will be filled with sunshine, but heading into Sunday, our morning will start out with sunshine but cloud coverage will start to increase heading into the afternoon. Heading into next week, we’ll keep the warming trend going, and by Tuesday and Wednesday, it will feel like we’re back in spring! Early Thursday morning brings us our next chance for showers, but they will be very light and won’t stick around for too long. Click here to subscribe to our daily newsletter!Copyright 2025 WTOK.
